Is the “Kardashian” Brand Overboard or Marketing Genius?

Just when the public has had enough, with hashtags like: #NoKardashiansForAWeek, the PR queen Kim Kardashian does something unexpected. Some people are talking about how empowered she is to show her pregnant body in the nude, some people are talking about how she is shameless and needs to be censored, but, from a PR perspective, the point should be: she got people talking.

Sometimes being outrageous is the most effective way to get attention. Think about reality tv, the presidential election or MC Hammer.

Here’s what celebrity MC Hammer had to say recently:

“Winning during the “Attention Economy”era is not for everyone.The traditional rules of what’s acceptable don’t apply. Shock is currency. “
